We’ll travel the Three Rivers Heritage Trail system which includes a portion of the Great Allegheny Passage running from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C. Pause for a photo op and revel in the scenic beauty of one of the most beautiful cityscapes in the country.  Trace the evolution of Pittsburgh, from wild frontier town to business and entrepreneurial center while cruising along on your relaxed, traffic-free bike adventure.

Pittsburgh’s Riverfront Trails (1.5 hours)

Let us introduce you to Pittsburgh’s convenient riverfront trail system, easy and scenic biking for all ages and activity levels.  You’ll discover:

  • the best places to park and access the trails,
  • the best routes for you and your famiy,
  • and a little bit of Pittsburgh history.

Tours alternate between the Monongahela and Allegheny trails. A map of the trails can be found here and on Your Active Blog.

Tour cost is $20 per person, all taxes are included.  Bike rental can be arranged through Golden Triangle Bike Rental .

Tours begin and end at Golden Triangle Bike Rental on First Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Tale of Two Cities (2-2.5 hours)

Covering the rise of Pittsburgh and Allegheny City, you’ll hear how this area developed from a wild frontier town to a city on the world stage.  Bike north along the beautiful Allegheny River and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Pittsburgh skyline to your right, while seeing the launch site of Lewis and Clark’s famous expedition. Crossing one of Pittsburgh’s more than 400 bridges, you’ll wind through the Strip District, along Pittsburgh’s waterfront, and down to the Point. As you cross back to the North Shore,  enjoy some pivotal pieces of the Pittsburgh sports scene as dramatic views of PNC Park and Heinz Field will be sure to inspire photo ops.

Tour cost is $36 per person/$52 per person includes bike and gear; all taxes are included.

Tours begin and end on the riverfront trail just below PNC Park.

Steel here after all these years (2-2.5 hours)

As you bike the Eliza Furnace Trail (also known as the “jail trail”) beside the Monongahela River, you’ll get a sense of Pittsburgh’s popular urban biking environment.  On this tour you’ll learn about the history of steel in Pittsburgh’s evolution and the revitalization of areas that were once home to the largest mills in the world.  Hear how these industries shaped the people of Pittsburgh for the past 100 years, and how those people have shaped the world.
